Znusd currency pair
Family I · Instruments
Not to be confused with forex currency trading, major currency pairs, exotic currency pairs.
ZNUUSD is a quoted currency pair consisting of a base symbol, ZNU, and the US dollar as the quote currency. The ZNU code does not correspond to a national currency issued by a central bank, so the pair is not traded in the conventional interbank foreign exchange market. It appears only where a broker or platform defines and prices it, and its availability, contract specifications and quotation conventions therefore vary by provider.
What the pair represents
In a currency pair, the first symbol is the base and the second is the quote. A quotation for ZNUUSD states how many US dollars are needed to buy one unit of ZNU. If ZNUUSD is quoted at 1.2500, one ZNU is priced at 1.25 US dollars.
Because ZNU is not a sovereign currency, the pair has no central bank, no monetary policy and no official fixing. Its price is determined solely by the venue that lists it, which may derive it from an underlying asset, a basket or an internal model. Traders should treat the symbol as venue-specific rather than as a standard market instrument.
Worked example
A venue quotes ZNUUSD with a contract size of 10,000 ZNU per lot. A trader buys one lot at 1.2500 and later sells it at 1.2600.
The calculation assumes no spread, commission, swap or slippage. Real costs are set by the venue and vary.
Availability and risk
ZNUUSD is not a major currency pair and is not traded on regulated interbank venues as a sovereign instrument. Where it is offered, it is typically a synthetic or broker-defined product, and the listing broker acts as the counterparty. Spreads, leverage limits, trading hours and settlement rules are set by the provider and differ between jurisdictions and account types.
Because there is no central bank or official reference price, the pair can be illiquid and its quoted price may diverge from any theoretical value. Positions may be difficult to close at the displayed price, and the instrument may be withdrawn or repriced without notice.

- exotic currency pairs
- Exotic currency pairs combine a major currency with the currency of a smaller or emerging economy, whereas ZNUUSD's base is not a sovereign currency at all; the visible sign is that an exotic pair's base or quote can be traced to a central bank, while ZNU cannot.
